B cleaned out our study closet shelves last night, and then I found some scraps of paper in the recycling bin this morning upon which I had once written various sayings that had struck me from books I was reading at the time. I didn't note where each quote came from, but I rescued the sheets from the garbage and wanted to type some of them out for posterior's sake. Some are a bit platitudinous (is that a word?), but most are worth reading.
The illumined soul...
Thinks always, "I am doing nothing."
No matter what he sees,
Hears, touches, smells, eats...
This he knows always:
"I am not seeing, I am not hearing:
it is the senses that see and hear
And touch the things of the senses."

You're never going to get it all together

Show compassion for yourself

Don't misinterpret
Don't misalign others
Don't ponder others
Don't wait in ambush

Lighten up

Say yes

Change your attitude, but remain neutral

Enlightenment: lots of space, nothing holy.

Always maintain a joyful mind

Don't be swayed by external circumstances

Life, like a dome of many-coloured glass,
Stains the white radiance of eternity.

Abandon any hope of fruition

Be grateful to everyone

the most important parts for me:
You're never going to get it all together

Show compassion for yourself

Yeah, those were among my faves as well. I also liked the one about not being swayed by external circumstances.
