Roller coaster

These have to be watched in order, such as I just watched them, to have the desired effect. I feel so weird right now after watching these two videos.

First, from wtf_inc, this video, which is among the strangest things I've ever seen, and yet strangely artistic and dancelike at the climax (no double entendre intended). I really can't imagine what on earth has motivated these dudes to work up this strange ottoman-humping routine. It is truly weird. (My fave comment from the wtf_inc post was, "They had better enjoy that ottoman. That's about all they will ever get to hump if the girls see this video."

And second, via dani_namaste, this quite moving snippet from the British version of American Idol (which I believe Simon Cowell started first, before launching the US version):

Isn't that a twist to watch after the first one?

The original was Pop Idol, started by Simon Fuller - and Simon Cowell was a judge (it's his record company that gives the contract). Yes, too many Simons!

so, they're getting peer pressured into gang-raping an ottoman?

I really have no idea. I'm just at a loss for words. They're so... SERIOUS about it, you know? And so fluid in their motions. It's like some sort of ritualistic ottoman-copulation dance.

Yeah, they do have this "this is my art" thing going on with it, and I'm just not sure what it has to do with peer pressure,

now that the brief bit of snark is over, that Paul Potts clip still makes me cry, and I've watched it like six times now. And yeah, this is the original version of what's now America's got Talent, not American Idol. But hell, if half of those bitches on Idol could sing like he does, I'd be in heaven.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing - it's Britain's Got Talent, which explains why he's singing opera. ;)

Britain's got talent -- definitely not their version of American Idol. That's Pop Idol. =)

I was supposed to be in the first video, but when it was my turn the ottoman got a headache.

The 6 year old girl Connie sang a sensitive and beautiful version of Over the Rainbow (her audition version). In her other songs Connie hit some weak notes, otherwise she may have beat Paul in the competition. Connie: http://youtube.com/watch?v=XqVqJ1HLHNo

I enjoyed your latest family photos!

That must be one sexy piece of furniture. Maybe it's the smell?
